Introduction to Scaffold Training Course


This course is for operatives who are looking to start a career within the scaffolding industry. This course is designed to provide all new entrants and labourers with a knowledge of general site safety, how to work safely with scaffolding and access equipment, and a safe method of manual handling. Delegates must have successfully completed a CITB Health and Safety and Environment Test within 2 years prior to attending the CISRS COTS course.

Course Content

General responsibilities
Basic scaffolding terminology (components and application)
Servicing of equipment (tube, fittings, boards etc.)
Boards and stock – quality control
Health, welfare, hygiene and housekeeping
Electrical safety
Fire prevention and control
Noise and vibration
Working at height
Accident prevention and reporting
Slips, trips and falls
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Transport safety on site
Equipment and tools
Manual handling (including loading and unloading)
Lifting equipment using rope and wheel
Questions/test paper

CISRS Labourer or Trainee Card

Following the successful completion of the COTS course, you will be posted your attendance certificate and we will apply for your CISRS Labourer or Trainee card.


The course is held at Ham Barn Yard in Greatham, Nr Petersfield, Hampshire. The cost of the course is £150+VAT including CISRS card application.
